Court agrees Anwar not to attend parliament Bloomberg News
Kuala Lumpur- Jailed former Malaysian finance minister Anwar Ibrahim's appeal to attend parliament was rejected by the Kuala Lumpur High Court Tuesday, reported state-run news agency Bernama, citing Judge Hashim Yusof.
Hashim said it's not ''appropriate'' for him to question the decision of Prisons Director-General Omar Dan, who rejected Anwar's application on March 19 because it would ''jeopardize national security and public order,'' the report said.
Omar's decision was according to the correct principles of law, Hashim was cited as saying by the agency.
On April 14, Anwar was sentenced to six years' jail by the High Court for abusing his office to interfere with police probes into his alleged sexual misconduct.
