World's first search-based e-mail
launched in India
CHENNAI -
Bloomba, the world's first search-based e-mail,
developed by Chennai-based iSoftTech for its US client
Stata Labs, is now available in India.
Bloomba,
which was launched in the US in July, is being targeted
at individual professionals who are extensive users of
e-mails, said Dr Ashok Jhunjhunwala, professor at IIT
Madras and a founder of iSoftTech.
"Bloomba is
simple to set up on your desktop," he told a news
conference here.
Bloomba's search features allow
e-mail users to effortlessly search and find e-mail,
contacts, attachments. "It ultimately ends the need for
traditional folder-based filing and tracking," said
Ellen R Salisbury, senior vice-president (products and
services) of Stata Labs.
iSoftTech will be the
re-sellers for Bloomba in India and the first re-seller
to be appointed by Stata Labs in Asia. "Bloomba has been
proven to meet specific needs of heavy e-mail users and
businesses without the cost of expensive server-based
enterprise solutions," Ellen said.
Priced at Rs
1,499 (US$32), the product can be downloaded from the
iSoftTech website.
Vijay Babu, president and
chief operating officer of iSoftTech, said about 15-20
software professionals at iSoftTech had worked for the
last two years to develop the product. Apart from the
powerful search engine capability, Bloomba is also
bundled with SAproxy Pro 2.0, a spam protection software
built on the open source SpamAssassin, he said.
