India's Wipro joins forces with Nokia

BANGALORE - Wipro Technologies, the global technology services division of Wipro Limited, on Monday said it has signed an agreement with Finnish mobile major Nokia to provide smart phone development and integration services for handset manufacturers on its "60 series platform", the Bangalore-based company said in a statement here.

As a series 60 competence center provider, Wipro will offer software development, backed by its understanding of the requirements for end-to-end series 60 platform software and hardware integration.

"If required, Wipro will be able to manage an entire series 60 platform integration project," the statement said.

Nokia introduced the "series 60 produce creation community" a year ago at the 3rd GSM world congress in Cannes.

The competence centers in the community are companies that are equipped with proficient and knowledgeable resources and understand requirements for end-to-end software and hardware integration on time and budget.
