BEIJING - China's power
output grew 14.5%, and power consumption by industrial
production grew 19.6% in the first three quarters of
this year.
Generally speaking, China's market
demand for power is still strong, and the power supply
will remain tight.
Power producers in China
generated a total of 1.55748 trillion kWh of electricity
in the first three quarters of this year, up 14.5% year
on year, and the growth is 1.3 percentage points lower
than in the first half.
Thermal power output
grew 14.3%, and the growth is 1.5 percentage points
lower; hydropower, 14.7%, and the growth is 1.3
percentage points higher; and nuclear power, 18%, and
the growth is 3.1 percentage points lower.
By
region, power output grew 25.5% in Inner Mongolia; 17.1%
in Jilin; 17.7% in Shandong; 16% in Henan; 49.3% in
Hubei; 17.9% in Hunan; 15.1% in Shaanxi; 17.9% in Gansu;
32.1% in Qinghai; and 33.8% in Ningxia. Power output
growth in the 10 provinces and autonomous regions has
all exceeded the country's average growth level.
Power consumption by large industrial
enterprises totaled 950.02 billion kWh in the first
three quarters, up 19.6% cent year on year, and the
growth is 0.1 percentage points lower than in the first
half but 5.1 percentage points higher than the growth of
power output.
Power consumption by metallurgical
industry was 147.08 billion kWh, up 31.5%; by chemical
industry, 129.25 billion kWh, up 17.6%; by power sector,
125.67 billion kWh, up 13.2%; by nonferrous metals
industry, 85.01 billion kWh, up 19%; and by building
materials sector, 85.74 billion kWh, up 24.8%. Combined
power consumption by the five industries reached 572.75
billion kWh, accounting for 60.3%of total power
consumption by industrial production in China.
By region, power consumption in Hebei was 56.56
billion kWh in the first three quarters, up 21.9%; in
Liaoning, 43.61 billion kWh, up 16.%; in Jiangsu, 78.13
billion kWh, up 22.8%; in Zhejiang, 56.69 billion kWh,
up 17.6%; in Shandong, 96.69 billion kWh, up 28.3%; in
Henan, 65.58 billion kWh, up 15%; in Guangdong, 74.76
billion kWh, up 21.7%; and in Sichuan, 39.04 billion
kWh, up 16.6%. Combined power consumption in the eight
provinces was 511.06 billion kWh, accounting for 53.8%
of China's total power consumption.
