BEIJING - The per capita
cash income of Chinese farmers averaged 2,110 yuan
(US$255) in the first three quarters, up 11.4% year on
year in real terms after inflation, according to the
National Bureau of Statistics.
The growth rate
was 7.6 percentage points higher than that in the same
period of last year.
The income from sale of
farm produce led the income growth in the first three
quarters, while wage income increased steadily, and
income from sideline operations grew slowly, the bureau
said. The nine months also saw a fast increase of
farmers property and transfer income and a substantial
decrease in burdens on farmers.
In the
January-September period, the per capita wage income of
farmers averaged 683 yuan, up 13.8% year on year,
including 238 yuan from non-local labor services, up
18.8%; the cash income from sale of farm products
averaged 958 yuan per capita, up 24.9% year on year, and
that from sideline operations averaged 312 yuan, up 3%.
In the nine months, the farmers got 19 yuan
policy subsidies per capita, while their tax burdens
decreased 11 yuan or 33% to 22.5 yuan per capita.
