HAIKOU - Hainan Province
in South China plans to build five big industrial zones
(parks) in a bid to optimize industrial structure, bring
into full play its infrastructure facilities and realize
intensive development of industry, according to a
document on stepping up development of new industries
issued by the Hainan Provincial Government.
The
five industrial zones (parks) are:
The Haikou Industry Park, which consists of the
Haikou bonded Zone, the Hainan International Sci-Tech
Industry Park, the Jinpan Industrial Development Zone,
and the Haikou Medicine Valley. It will give priority to
development of pharmaceutical and automotive industries,
while stressing production and fruit juice, foodstuff,
textiles, optical fiber cable and household electric
appliances.
The Laocheng Development Zone. It will integrate
high-tech industry with traditional one with production
centering on coal-fueled electric power, optical fiber,
special steel products, fine chemicals, non-woven
fabric, artificial board and new building materials.
The Yangpu Development Zone, which will focus on oil
refining, silicon monoxide, petrochemical, pulp paper
and such products and flour process, attracting
investment from big enterprises.
The Changjiang Industry Zone, which will focus on
production of iron ore, iron and steel,
lead-acid-lithium cell, cement, float glass, titan
white, magnesium products, and new building materials,
as well as recycling and reutilization of wastes.
The Oriental Chemical Town, which will focus on
production of natural gas, chemical fertilizer and
methanol and melamine.
