Sports: Jeremy Lin declines $2.2 million team option

Hornets point guard Jeremy Lin will become a free agent on July 1, as he has declined a $2.2 million team option. He has indicated that he may return to Charlotte next season.

Cleveland.com had earlier posted that Lin will make such a move to test unrestricted free-agency.

Lin averaged 11.7 points, 3.0 assists and 3.2 rebounds for the last season.

League sources reported that Lin chose early termination of his two-year contract with Charlotte Hornets that he inked last July. It was worth $4.3 million. Lin returned to Hornets after playing for the Houston Rockets and the New York Knicks. The Christian Post noted that the Insanity craze opened great doors for his career and opportunities to improve on his skills. During his time in Houston, he had an average of 12.4 points, 2.6 assists and 2.3 rebounds.
