Shocking video: Punjab woman dragged out of office, kidnapped and raped

Almost a month after a Dalit woman was allegedly abducted and raped in Muktsar district of Punjab, India, the police have arrested the accused Gurinder. He was caught on CCTV camera which was installed nearby, abducting the woman. The accused then took her to Tapa Khera village and allegedly raped her. According to reports, Muktsar’s SSP Gurpreet Singh Gill said on Saturday that the accused youth surrendered before a court in Muktsar and has been remanded to police custody for three days.

Gurinder and the woman both were residents of Kandu Khera village, and he abducted the victim, who is said to be in her early 20s, when she was working in her office in broad daylight on March 25. He was caught in a CCTV camera dragging the girl out of the computer centre in Malaut, where she worked.

Following a complaint, Malaut Police had on March 30 filed a case and were on the lookout for him. Police sources said Gurinder was arrested on Friday night. Deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Manvinder Veer Singh said the victim was traumatized and wanted the accused to be hanged. “She had threatened to hang herself if the accused was not arrested,” he added.

Hindustan Times reported that Sumit Kumar, the owner of the computer centre and also a witness to the abduction, said, “The youth had come to meet the victim. They were chatting so we thought they were acquaintances. But soon he tried to abduct her and when we protested, he started fighting with us. The entire episode was recorded on the CCTV camera.”
