Hong Kong police have launched an investigation after a hacker targeted the Facebook account of Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying and posted pictures of 14 young models to the list of ‘new friends’.
The incident took place on Christmas Eve afternoon, Chief Executive’s Office said in a statement on Wednesday adding that the police were alerted about it the same day.
The statement said some information and settings were changed, some posts removed and some ‘new friends’ added.
A local weekly Next Magazine was the first to report on some changes on Leung’s Facebook page.
Facebook claimed some months ago that it has introduced a new security feature by which its users will get an alert if their account is hacked.
There is no word yet on whether Leung got a message alerting him about the hacking.
Calls to Facebook enquiring about the incident went unanswered.
