Travel: 3 days as a solo traveler in Japan

By Vern Enciso

Every year, I always pick a favourite project that I was blessed with and even if 2015 isn’t over yet, the one I’m writing about today is what I’m choosing. I have quite a lot of reasons but let me tell you my top 2. First, I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason and this is another proof that it is true because the person who contacted me (and pushed for this to happen!) was someone I met accidentally. Accidentally because I wasn’t supposed to be in Korea a few months ago but the universe conspired for me to be there and that’s where I met him. He was the videographer extraordinaire who tagged along to capture us capture the beauty of South Korea. To tell you honestly, Fraser, the guy who I’m talking about, was someone I barely got to interact with during the whole tour only because he was busy doing his thing so when he contacted him a few months ago, that came as a surprise. Second, because this project was for a very big brand. Probably one of the biggest I’ve worked with in my 5 years in the industry. One that EVERYONE on this planet knows or will know one way or the other. If you haven’t heard of it, then you haven’t been only living on a rock but maybe you’ve  been in the core of the earth. I’m sure even this rings a bell outer space because somehow, I’m sure, they’re finding a way for us to use our credit card on something there. I’m talking about Visa.. yes the one you see at the bottom of your credit cards or that little logo you see before entering a store. It was so surreal because I didn’t think the people behind the Asia Pacific Visa Team picked me to be part of this, let alone knew I existed. They are the world’s leading payments technology company and they make sure that the payment process between two entities happens smoothly. Anywhere in the world, whatever you’re buying, as long as your bank is famous enough to be recognized, you can pay with your visa card. Yup, THAT’S THE ONE I’M TALKING ABOUT! DO YOU UNDERSTAND WHY I’M FREAKING ABOUT IT NOW?? <3 <3 <3

This particular project is about the latest trend in traveling in the South East Asian region – Solo Female Travellers and since I’ve been doing this for a few months now, I think I have enough knowledge to impart what I know and why I love it so much. Visa sent me to my favourite Asian country, to do what I love when I travel and just meet up with a professional video team there once in awhile so I can share my two cents to them so they can compile it and make a special documentary to find out why it’s become so popular. They only chose 3 female solo travellers from the millions of travellers around the region and I still can’t believe they chose me! I won’t spill so much but just snippets of it since I want you to watch out for my season. It’ll be shown for a lot of you to see and I will give out the details once I have it 🙂 Read more
