ISIS plotting ‘end of the world’ by attacking India, says report

(From Press Trust of India)

The ISIS is preparing to attack India to provoke an Armageddon-like confrontation with the US, according to an internal recruitment document of the feared group which also seeks to unite the Pakistani and Afghan Taliban into a single army of terror.

An investigative story published on Tuesday by the USA Today and reported by American Media Institute refers to a 32-page Urdu document obtained from a Pakistani citizen with connections inside the Pakistani Taliban.

“The document warns that ‘preparations’ for an attack in India are under way and predicts that an attack will provoke an apocalyptic confrontation with America,” the report said. “Even if the US tries to attack with all its allies, which undoubtedly it will, the ummah (Muslims) will be united, resulting in the final battle,” it added.

The document, according to the report, was independently translated into English by a Harvard scholar and verified by several serving and retired intelligence officials.

Bruce Riedel, a retired CIA official and now a senior fellow at the Brookings Institute, said striking India would magnify the ISIS’ stature and threaten the stability of the region.

“Attacking India is the Holy Grail of South Asian jihadists,” he was quoted as saying.

The undated document is titled ‘A Brief History of the Islamic State Caliphate, The Caliphate According to the Prophet.’

It seeks to unite dozens of factions of the Pakistani and Afghan Taliban into a single army of terror, the daily said.

“It includes a never-before-seen history of the Islamic State, details chilling future battle plans, urges al-Qaeda to join the group and says the Islamic State’s leader should be recognized as the sole ruler of the world’s 1 billion Muslims under a religious empire called a ‘caliphate’,” it said.

Aware of the ISIS’ presence in Afghanistan, the White House said it is closely monitoring the situation. ISIS’ presence and its threat perception was also discussed in the past two months between senior officials of US and Pakistan.

“Instead of wasting energy in a direct confrontation with the US, we should focus on an armed uprising in the Arab world for the establishment of the caliphate,” the document said.

The document was reviewed by three US intelligence officials, who said they believe the document is authentic based on its unique markings and the fact that language used to describe leaders, the writing style and religious wording match other documents from the ISIS, USA Today added.

So, ISIS thinks that by attacking India, the US will be sucked into a ground war with ISIS to help india, AND THEN ISIS will win that ground war & destroy the US, which will finally allow them to establish/expand their caliphate??…Well, the US isn’t going to get sucked into a ground war with ISIS….it’s interesting that India’s close relationship with the US under Modi has resulted in India becoming an even more attractive target for terrorists!

ISIS terms predominantly Hindu India “Ghazwa-E-Hind”. As the article points out India has been on ISIS radar along with her ambition to create and maintain an “Islamic Caliphate”

When the US created the 40 nation coalition to take on ISIS it was a prayer that was answered for ISIS. The creation of an “Islamic Caliphate” is based on an ideology. Many (not all) Muslims have held that belief and IS satisfied them. This “Caliphate” has now been in existence for over a year. What IS needed was a rival power that would make ISIS a greater power. The US led 40 nation coalition was the answer. The ideological, term for the US in the Middle East is “the Great Satan”.

the US just ended her longest war in Afghanistan. She also created a nightmare case in Iraq when US sanctions ended up killing over 1 million Iraqi men, women and children. These sanctions were so broad sweeping that it crippled a nation to function. Chlorine for water purification was banned, vaccinations for children were banned, the list was long and merciless.

When the US led coalition did take on ISIS regional terrorist groups in the Middle East, North Africa to the sub Saharan Africa pledged allegiance against the “Great Satan”. it worked. ISIS not only got alliances but by now got hands on field training.

If and when ISIS does enter India most likely she will follow the same pattern. She will form alliances with regional terrorist groups to take on New Delhi and India’s military.

Like the Middle East, ISIS will target India’s economy bypassing a full front confrontation with India’s military. She will use the resources of terrorist groups from India’s NE region to the Maoists to the Haqqani network, for they all have a couple of things in common. They all are fighting New Delhi and they know the India intimately. New Delhi then will be facing an asymmetrical war against a foe with many faces fought on Indian soil from Kashmir in the north to Kanya Kumari in the south.

I think you very realistically describe ISIS’s logic, but, the question is, will these insurgent groups inside India (many of them are nationalist, not driven by Islamic ideology, like ULFA) actually side & associate with the world’s most hated terrorist organization??? I think they will not: Doing so would seriously *damage* their respectability, and therefore their cause….Like you said, ISIS is happy to kill civilians (the basis of the Indian economy), but when was the last time a Naga Nationalist did that?? Naga insurgents fight Indian Army, not Indian civilians, especially not outside of Nagaland. Bottom line: insurgent groups will not embarrass themselves by helping ISIS (although I think ISIS will be successful in recruiting many Indian muslims to join them). __I think India’s insurgent groups will stay neutral, OR even help the Indian government fight ISIS *if* ISIS tries to invade their land.

    Got your comment.
There are alliances that would satisfy everyone. Naga separatists or the Maoists or the Kashmiri separatists, former LTTE, etc. possibly can serve in different capacities.
None of them have been successful in taking on New Delhi and her military. all of them have fought defensively (meaning they keep the war to their region, attacking in the NE or Kashmir or in the case of LTTE in Jaffna) that allows the Indian military to take an offensive position against them and they continue to lose.
What ISIS has proven as one aspect is that they utilize professional help. that is in the Middle East.
    ISIS can get
    Who to bribe
targets to hit such as tourists and foreign businessmen. that always gets the world headlines.
    Who and where to strike
Local customs and tradition in order to blend in
transportation of weapons and people who will do that in India
the list is long and so many militants have fought New Delhi for decades without success. Their “reputation” is to win at any cost.
If you are familiar with the Eelam war in SrI lanka that was all that counted. Any act of brutality was okay with them. Now they are losing because they fail to strike hard at India. India is most vulnerable in her economy. NO military can be everywhere, especially in a continent sized nation like India. ISIS knows that, the militants know that and anyone with any common sense knows that.
India implements an emergency in this world economy and the world will keep away from India. that is a massive strike. it a case of being caught in a rock and a hard place.
