Angelo Codevilla responds: It isn’t enough to change Hamas’ spots

Israel’s deal with Nusra is grounded in reality. The offer to Hamas seems to be something else. “Renunciation of terrorist activity affecting Israel and the Sinai, as well as disarming Islamic Jihad forces based in Gaza and reducing its own armed wing” is, at best, a set of superficial gestures. The Palestinian territories, especially Gaza now have an inherently toxic homegrown human infrastructure. Changing that leopard character will take more than muting its spots.
