Abe eager to realize Putin’s Japan visit by year-end

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Monday expressed his strong hope to realize a proposed visit to Japan by Russian President Vladimir Putin within this year.
“I want to realize Putin’s visit at an appropriate time of this year, in order to promote talks on the bilateral territorial issue” over four Russian-held northwestern Pacific islands, Abe told a press conference in Munich, after attending a two-day summit of the Group of Seven major industrial nations in the southern German resort of Elmau through the same day.
