Angelo Codevilla responds to Francesco Sisci

Francesco Sisci said: “This game is delicate and very dangerous, because it makes regional balances very unstable. Yet India could benefit the most from it and thus, it could find a path to greater political enhancement and economic development selling itself long to anybody — the Chinese, the Americans, the Japanese, the Russians, etc.”

Codevilla responds: It is by no means clear that the Indians know what they are doing other than trying to cover all bets at once. As Turkey’s diplomacy in the Davutoglu era showed, such an effort dilutes a nation’s own commitments and earns none in return.
