Online shopping mall debuts in North Korea

UPI, quoting a story by Yonhap news agency, reports that North Korea has introduced a new e-commerce site where buyers can purchase goods through the Internet and their mobile phones.

Yonhap says that North Korean state media announced Wednesday that the People’s Service Bureau had launched online shopping mall called “Ok Ryu” where North Koreans can buy consumer products, medicine, as well as food items directly sourced from North Korean restaurants. The move is part of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s plan to use information technology to stimulate the country’s the domestic economy. Read more
